On 10 June 2021, Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown (Virtua Fighter esports) has been updated to Version 1.03 which sees the addition of a new Room ID search function. This should go a long way toward finding specific rooms in the ever-crowded lobby! Read on for more details on this new feature.

Less than two hours ago, Sega live-streamed an announcement and in depth look at the upcoming Virtua Fighter x esports (Or Ultimate Showdown, as it's known outside Japan). The full stream lasted just over an hour and we have an in-depth breakdown of the main points covered.

The VF official twitter account revealed that an announcement on the Virtua Fighter x esports project will be made on Thursday, 27 May 2021 at approximately 8 PM (JST). The game title of "Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown" has just been rated by the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea for the PS4 platform, and, interestingly, the rating lists "Virtua Fighter esports" as the original title. With recent news of the PS3 store shutting down, and no current, stand-alone way to play VF5FS on a PlayStation 4 or 5 console, could this be SEGA's move to kill two birds with one stone? Officially bring the latest title in some kind of updated "ultimate" form into the esports scene, and playable on a modern console?
