Announced a short while ago on their blogs, SEGA are currently holding a contest in Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown to Name Your Opponent!

This is your chance at immortality, kinda, where you get to choose:

Character: select your favourite character from any of the 19 available in Final Showdown.

Ring Name: up to 16 alpha-numeric characters.

Tag Line: two lines of text, 20 alpha-numeric characters per line.

This video guide is dedicated to Kage's Koenraku throw, aka Ten Foot Toss (TFT), and arguably one of the best throws in the game due to its potential for damage and ring out. This is a compilation of the best TFT combos for each character covering maximum damage, ring outs and wall usage. Performed on Xbox 360, VF5 Version C.

For the second weekend of Kakutou Shinseiki VI (KSVI) Preliminary Qualifiers, the VF.TV Live Channel will be streaming the qualifier in Osaka (E3 spot in the KSVI 64-player Finals Bracket) on January 22nd, 2012 at 2pm JST.

It's not every day a combo video for VF5 gets made. In response to an enquiry made in the VF5 Ver.C Kage Combos thread on the timings required for Kage's (Shippuujin) ShouRyuZan (SRZ) "bounce" combos, I decided to put together a video. It demonstrates various SRZ combos and covers the basic and more advanced combos applicable to the entire cast. Enjoy! Also available in HD!

The Kakutou Shinseiki VI (KSVI) Preliminary Qualifiers will officially begin this weekend! A total of 53 tournaments will be held throughout Japan from January 14th, 2012 to March 4, 2012. Each weekend will have one preliminary qualifier tournament streamed live! For this weekend, they will broadcast the qualifier in Toyko (D5 spot in the KSVI 64-player Finals Bracket), January 14, 2012 at 2pm JST in the VF.TV Live Channel).

The second out of eight VFR point ranking battles within the Kansai region. Unlike the first tournament, the 2nd volume will be a normal 3on3 team tournament. This event is expected to be streamed live on the Kansai Bay Channel on January 15th, 5 PM JST tournament start time.

A 3on3 team point ranking battle in the 13th season of VFR. The tournament starts on January 14th at 6 PM JST. This event is expected to be streamed on the VFRTV channel.

Railway Series Stage 1-05 Part 1 / Part 2

The last regular Battle Audition 4th Season tournament will be in the Akihabara area of Tokyo. The previous Battle Audition tournament in Tokyo was at the Ikebukuro district. Winner of this single elimination tournament will compete against both the current Star Players and other Battle Audition 4th Season tournament winners (Star Player Cadets) in February at the Final Battle Audition (FBA) event. In addition, the top three players at the FBA event will be given a spot at the Kakutou Shinseiki VI (KSVI) tournament. Read the Kakutou Shinseiki VI Event - March 2012 thread for more information on the Battle Audition 4th Season, and KSVI. The tournament will start on Monday, January 9th at 2:30 pm JST. Live footage from the tournament will be hosted either on the VF.TV Live Channel or the VF Battle Channel.

The 2012 new year starts off with the Newton Cup in Tokyo! This is a 5on5 VF5FS team format tournament and is the first seed trial battle of the 2011-2012 VFR Season. A member from the winning team will automatically get "seeded" status and his/her team in Beat Tribe Cup will get placed in a Seeded Block during the Preliminary League Stage. The tournament is expected to start on Sunday, January 8th approximately at 12 pm JST. Live footage from the tournament will be streamed on Newton Live Channel.
